WORLDWIDE ORPHANS FOUNDATION
There are 143 million orphans in the world, and only a tiny fraction of them will ever be adopted. Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO) was founded in 1997 by Dr. Jane Aronson, a renowned pediatric infectious disease and adoption medicine specialist. It’s unique mission is to transform the lives of orphans in their own countries by bringing them into their communities, providing excellent medical, health and developmental care, and ensuring that they have the tools to live productive and healthy lives.
...and now helping Haiti to help its children
Dr. Jane Aronson was in Haiti in January for a fact-finding mission and returns now to begin implementation of long-term care for Haiti ’s most vulnerable children. WWO’s Haiti initiative will provide granny programs, regular medical care, including immunizations, and education and psychosocial programs as well.
As with all WWO programs, partnerships and in-country capacity building, and respect for local culture and customs, are integral parts of our work.
“Haitian children,” Dr. Aronson notes, “are like children everywhere – they are strong, resilient and full of life and love. They just need and deserve our help, and WWO is committed to being there for them.”
